민성진은 미국 남부 캘리포니아대학교에서 건축학 학사, 하버드대학교 건축대학원에서 도시디자인학 석사를 취득하고, 1995년 SKM Architects를 설립하였다. 30년 동안 국내외에서 활발하게 활동하고 있는 한국의 대표적 건축가 중 한 명이며, 미국건축가협회 정회원이다. 한국과 해외에서 규모 있는 프로젝트를 다수 수행했으며 최근 가장 활발하게 활동하고 있는 건축가다. 긍정적 사고와 미래지향적 추진력을 가진 그는 평범한 것을 비범한 것으로 승화시킬 수 있다는 믿음으로 건축작업에 임한다. 이런 그의 포괄적인 건축적 관점과 가치관은 폭넓은 여행 경험과 다양한 문화경험으로부터 형성된 것이다. 그가 이끌고 있는 SKM Architects는 건축 디자인과 기술을 통해 인류 문화의 발전을 이끌 수 있다는 신념을 가진 건축가, 디자이너, 도시 연구자들의 집단이다. 그간 다수의 주목할만한 민간 프로젝트와 공공 프로젝트를 설계하였고, 이를 토대로 지난 30년간 도시와 건축의 새로운 가치를 창출하고 있다.
Ken Sungjin Min received his bachelor’s degree in architecture at USC, and his master’s degree in urban design at Harvard GSD. He founded his firm SKM Architects in 1995. He completed various large-scale projects in Korea and overseas, and is one of the most active architects. He tries to ask questions about familiarity, and constantly seeks new possibilities in the belief that architecture can expand the frame of one's thought and bring positive changes in one's behavior. SKM Architects is a group of architects, designers, and urban researchers who believe that architectural design and technology can lead the advancement of human culture. Having designed a number of noteworthy projects in the public and private spheres, the firm has been creating new urban and architectural value over the past 30 years.
