Topotek 1은 1996년 베를린에서 마틴 라인-카노(Martin Rein-Cano)에 의해 설립되었다. 1999년부터는 로렌츠 덱슬러(Lorenz Dexler)와 공동 파트너십으로 운영해왔으며, 2021년부터는 카스텐 슈미트(Carsten Schmidt)가 어소시에이트 파트너로 합류했다. 2017년에는 마틴 라인-카노, 로렌츠 덱슬러, 그리고 댄 부딕(Dan Budik)이 함께 Topotek 1 Architektur를 설립했다.
이 사무소는 국제적으로 높은 역량을 갖춘 건축가, 조경가, 행정 직원으로 구성된 다양하고 활기찬 다학제 팀으로 이루어져 있다. 조경, 도시, 건축이 교차하는 영역에서 활동하며, Topotek 1은 전형적인 유형과 규모의 경계 영역을 탐험하는 여행자에 비유할 수 있다. 각 프로젝트는 주어진 맥락과 프로그램적 필요에 대해 설득력 있는 개념, 뛰어난 디자인 품질, 그리고 효율적인 실행으로 대응하고자 한다.
사회와 문화의 세계적 변화가 공공 공간 디자인과 관련된 다양한 가능성을 끊임없이 재정의하는 가운데, 스튜디오는 공공 공간을 사회 전체와 비전을 표현하는 공간으로 보고 있다. 기존의 현대적 현실과 문화·역사적 참조를 비판적으로 이해하며 디자인을 발전시킨다. Topotek 1의 전체론적 전략은 변화성, 소통, 감각성을 충족하는 솔루션을 창출하여 현대적 용도를 위한 현대적 공간을 만들어낸다.

The diverse, lively, and multidisciplinary office is composed of a highly qualified international team of architects, landscape architects, and administrative staff. Working at the intersection of the fields of landscape architecture, urbanism, and architecture, Topotek 1 considers itself a traveller that explores the fringe areas of typologies and scales. Each project strives to respond to the given context and programmatic necessities with a compelling concept, extraordinary design quality, and efficient implementation.
As global movements in society and culture continually redefine a broad spectrum of possibilities in relation to the design of public space, the studio approaches public spaces as an expression of visions and of society as a whole, developing designs through a critical understanding of extant contemporary realities as well as of cultural and historical references. Topotek 1’s holistic strategy generates solutions that fulfill the modern requirements of variability, communication, and sensuality, creating contemporary spaces for contemporary uses.
