탕쯔잉(Ziying Tang)은 중국에 기반을 둔 Z+T 스튜디오의 창립자이자 디자인 디렉터로, 도시 광장 리노베이션, 공원, 놀이터, 폐채석장 복원, 역사유산 경관 보존 등 다양한 스케일의 조경 프로젝트에 참여했다. 건축 및 도시설계 학사 학위를 보유하고 있으며, 중국 베이징대학교에서 인문지리학 석사, 미국 매사추세츠 대학교(Amherst) 에서 조경학 석사(MLA)를 취득하였다.
장 동(Dong Zhang)은 중국 충칭대학교에서 조경학 학사 및 석사 학위를 받은 후, 미국 매사추세츠 대학교 (Amherst) 에서 조경학 석사를 추가로 취득하였다. 2009년 탕쯔잉과 함께 상하이에 Z+T 스튜디오를 설립하였으며, 현재까지 100개 이상의 프로젝트를 완성하였다. 이 중 다수는 국내외에서 주목을 받으며, 제12회 바르셀로나 국제 조경 비엔날레(BIBLA) 로사 바르바 상, 미국 조경가협회(ASLA) 명예상 등 주요 상을 수상하였다.
탕쯔잉과 장동은 다양한 사회적·물리적 맥락에서의 조경 공간 연구에 주력하고 있으며, 조경을 시각적 요소뿐 아니라 신체적·정신적 공간 경험으로 접근한다. 두 사람은 조경 개입이란 단순한 형태를 넘어, 공간 조직 방식의 창의적 구성과 지역성과 사회 문화를 반영하는 디자인 매체의 혁신에 기반해야 한다고 믿는다. 또한, 조경 재료의 창의성은기술 발전 및 대중 인식 변화와의 연동 속에서 시간의 흐름에 따라 발전해야 한다고 본다.
Ziying Tang as the founder and design director of Z+T Studio based in China, involved landscape projects with vary scales including urban plaza renovation, parks, playground, quarry site restoration, historical heritage landscape preservation. With Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Design, Ziying received a master degree of Human Geography from Peking University in China, and a MLA from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in USA.
Dong Zhang received a bachelor degree and a master degree in landscape architecture from Chongqing University, China. He also received a master degree in landscape architecture from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In 2009, he founded Z+T Studio with Ziying Tang in Shanghai. Since then, the studio has finished more than 100 projects, which received numerous national and international award recognitions, including the Rosa Barba prize of the XII edition of the BIBLA and the ASLA Honor Awards in USA.
Ziying and Dong are interested in landscape space study under different social and physical context. Not only from visual perspective of view, they focus on people’s body experience through landscape spiritually and physically. they believe the landscape intervention of a site is based on the invention of spacial organization, and the innovation of design medium representing the social and local culture. What the creativity of landscape materials regarding to the time line corresponds technology development and public perception.
