조남호는 솔토지빈건축사사무소의 대표 건축가이다. 그는 서울특별시 건축정책위원회 위원과 대한건축학회 부회장을 역임했으며, 서울시립대학교와 서울대학교에서 강의했고, 현재 명지대학교에서 특임교수로 재직 중이다. 그가 이끄는 솔토지빈건축은 역사적 전례에서 지혜를 얻어 새로운 건축 유형을 창조하는 집단으로 자리 잡고 있다. 1998년터 이어져 온 목조 구조 작업은 현대 도시의 복합적인 맥락을 수용하고 있다. 최근에는 코로나19 팬데믹 이후 ‘뉴노멀 시대의 생태미학 건축’을 주제로 연구와 작업을 병행하고 있다. 그는 2022년 서울 공공미술 프로젝트와 2024년 국립도시건축박물관 예술설계 공모에서 각각 <생태 행렬, 숨쉬는 그물>과 <구조적 카르마>를 설치할 작가로 선정되었으며, ‘순환의 폴리(Breathing Poly)’라는 주제로 열린 제5회 광주폴리에서 <숨쉬는 폴리>를 기획·창작했다.
Nam-ho Cho is a representative architect of the Soltozibin Architects Office. He served as a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s architectural policy committee and vice president of the Korea Architects Association. He has taught at University of Seoul and Seoul National University, and is currently a special professor at Myongji University. Soltoji Bin Architecture, led by him, is settling down as a group that is gaining wisdom from historical precedents and creating new architectural types. Wood structure work that has been going on since 1998 accommodates the complex context of modern cities. Recently, after the COVID-19 pandemic, research and work are being conducted at the same time on the theme of ‘architecture of ecological aesthetics’ in the new normal era. He was elected in the 2022 Seoul Public Art Project and the 2024 National Urban Architecture Museum Art Design Contest to install <Ecological Matrix, Breathing Net> and <Tectonic Karma>. He was selected as the artist of the 5th Gwangju Poly with the theme of
‘Circular Poly’ and conceived and created ‘Breathing
Poly’.
