SO – IL은 2008년 뉴욕에서 설립되었다.
다양한 국적 출신으로 이루어진 SO-IL은 12개 언어를 구사하며 글로벌 내러티브와 관점을 통해 정보를 얻는다. 그들은 지역에 뿌리를 두고 있으며 국적이 없는 중견 기업으로 알려져 있으며, 의욕적인 개인 및 공공기관의 고객과 함께 그들은 환경과 사물의 창조가 어떻게 지속적이고 긍정적인 지적, 그리고 사회적 참여에 영감을 주는지 탐구합니다.
SO-IL은 본거지인 뉴욕 브루클린은 물론 레온, 서울, 리스본에서도 프로젝트를 완료했다.
점차 사람을 내적으로 끌어들이는 디지털화된 세상에서 그들의 건축은 외부를 지향하며 물질적으로나 심리적으로나 인간의 외부에 있는 것과 의미 있는 대화를 만들어낸다. 밀라노의 유목민 생활을 위한 컨셉트 홈은 일상을 뛰어넘는 삶에 대한 적극적인 인식을 장려한다. 캘리포니아 대학교 데이비스 캠퍼스에서 그들은 처음부터 방문객과 현장 사이에 의도적으로 확장가능한 관계를 조성하는 박물관을 설계하였다.
SO-IL은 시간을 염두에 두고 디자인을 한다. 기존 구조물을 작업하든 지상에서 건물을 짓든 그들은 물리적 특성과 역사를 주의 깊게 조사한다. 프랑스 마이젠탈에서는 이러한 방식으로 산업유산지를 번성하는 문화 캠퍼스로 탈바꿈시켰습니다. 그들의 작업은 발주자의 과거를 존중하고 역동적인 미래에 적응할 수 있다.

SO – IL was born in New York in 2008.
Diverse in origin, SO-IL team of collaborators speaks a dozen languages and is informed by global narratives and perspectives. They are both locally-rooted and nationless, coming together as a mid-size, well-recognized company. With their ambitious private and public clients, they explore how the creation of environments and objects inspires lasting positive intellectual and societal engagement.
So-IL have completed projects in Leon, Seoul, and Lisbon, as well as their hometown, Brooklyn, New York. In a digitized world that increasingly draws one inward, their architecture is outward-looking, engendering meaningful dialogue with what is materially and psychologically outside of humans. Their concept home for nomadic living in Milan encourages an active awareness of life beyond routine. At the University of California, Davis campus, they designed a museum that cultivates an intentionally open-ended relationship between the visitor and the site at the outset.
So-IL designs with time in mind. Whether working with existing structures or building from the ground, They carefully investigate physical properties and history. In Meisenthal, France, we transformed an industrial heritage site into a thriving cultural campus in this way. Their interventions are both respectful of their pasts and adaptable to a dynamic future.
We have been featured in the New York Times, CNN, and Frankfurter Allgemeine. Our work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Our team has received numerous accolades, including the Vilcek Award, the Curbed Groundbreakers Award, and the MoMAPS1 Young Architects Program Award.
