‘The 1st World Cultural Industry Forum (WCIF) was held on 28th which hosted by Daegu City and Suseong district and run by Korean Culture Industry Forum Corp.

The very day Suseong-gu has announced ‘the plan of future Suseong-gu city’ to the world executived collaborative study by Korean Culture Industry Forum Corp. and SM Town Planner. With the name of ‘Sky Free City’, it has set a key assignment to lead Urban Air Mobility (UAM) which is core mobility industry in the future and to develop drone-tainment which is blended drone with entertainment

Leading the change in the future, UAM

Urban Air Mobility(UAM), in the other words, flying car is the transportation like an airplane which can solve too much traffic on the ground. 

On September 2019 Hyundai Car Group had made UAM department and set their goals as ‘commercialization of personal air mobility until 2028, in addition, composing UAM as 30% of whole business pie. Early of this year at Consumer Electronics Show CES) in the USA, they have announced about future mobility service model.
 

The government announced the K-UAM roadmap at the second innovation growth strategy meeting held in June. In the era of global competition, as human resources are concentrated, ground traffic congestion is expected to continue, and a solution is emerging as a three-dimensional means of urban air mobility (UAM) flying over the ground. With the goal of flying between 30 and 50 km of travel in the city area, urban air mobility is an innovative transportation service that can shorten to 20 minutes which take 1 hour by car. The flying car, thought to be a distant future story only seen in movies and cartoons, is quickly becoming a reality.

In mid-November, Suseong-gu has plan to test-fly flying car near the suseong-mot.

The futuristic city plan of The Mercury Sphere includes the idea of driving future change through flying cars through the use of three-dimensional space beyond the existing horizontal structure.

There is an idea of leading change of future perception in plans about Suseong-gu future city to utilize multi-dimensional places in order to using flying car so that can be shift from the ordinary horizontal structure.

There are good points about flying car. Firstly, it is possible to takeoff and land vertically. Also,

It makes use of electricity so that do not emit anti-pollution gas, indeed, makes less noises.

Additionally, it can make new sky road going out of orbit from moving through roads, courses that already existed. Based on these, we can be free from traffic on the ground, at the same time, flying car can reach as fast not only as car but also as airplane so that there is no meaning about how far from each other.
 
The plan is to set the base that create more values got out of traffic not only related with men also goods. 

Suseong-gu drives demonstration business that drone taxi does surveillance flight over the Suseong-mot with test-flight, and is willing to make eco-friendly business model operating regular service to helicopter landing point in the mountain in the future that can alternate cable-car.

Realization of Future City based on Sky Port

At this time of Daegu, there is big change on the center of region because of relocation of city hall, station area development of West-side of Daegu, Daegu-Gyeongbuk United New Airport Relocation, and set up new traffic network.

To overcome this crisis and make new steps, Suseong-gu is going to set up UAM. In a future city it will be a center of mobility that a sky port where is a station to takeoff and land from flying cars not an airport.

To do this, making a testbed of test flight opportunities and places about flying car is the start point. After studying UAM routes over the river, mountain, or road, convenience of transportation, connectivity, we will look for the best places for sky port, and expand flying car operation to utilize nearby metropolitan transportation network, and skyscrapers.
 
Moreover, sky port is not just terminal for the transportation. The sky port is the multiplex combined culture, leisure, medical, business, research, and development. Through the sky port, we are planning to make an active future city that has a new place where people can communicate sustainably overcoming the limit of time and places.  

Preoccupancy future leading industry
Urban air traffic was approved its possibility as an new power of development in future mobility industry so that there is intense competition among global corporations to preoccupy this market.

It is predicted to be around 730 trillion till 2040 in market size world-widely (in Korea around 13 trillion), form multidisciplinary industry system such as airframe(part) manufacturing･ maintenance(MRO), air traffic control, infra, service and insurance and so on

Around 200 companies all over the world from aviation industry to automobile business which are available for manufacturing start to study and invest about airframe. In this nation, Hanhwa System and Hyundai Car Group is planning to commercialize until 2026 and 2028. The government is planning to start to operate the service in 2025 as the most goal and prepares flight demonstration in 2024, and generalize in 2030 on earnest.

As UAM industry also called next generation’s industry rising suddenly, it brings crisis to mechanic, metal, and mobility industry in Daegu·Gyeongbuk. From parts of motor to parts of electronic cars, core industry in the future goes further as flying car, self-driving car, and parts of UAM.
 

Suseong-gu is going to lead future city changes to develop related human resources, and attract businesses like flight maintenance·repair or manufacturing parts associated with UAM. Indeed we are going to put our effort to set up the base to develop to study on 4th industrial technology associated with Suseong Alpha City.

Also, to proactive about drone business, government regulations, rules and regulations to introduce flying car, we are planning to make anticipative regulations, and willing to have future growth engine of Suseong district to attract companies related to control technology which can interact with surround environment, judge the moments and restrict ideally..

New Culture Contents, Drone-tainment (Drone + Entertainment)

In the future Suseong-gu will be included culture contents which combined with IT technology like media arts and drone shows. So we have plans to do groups of drone flights (drone lighting show) associated with Suseong Light Arts Festival held in Suseong-mot where is the one of popular travel destination in Daegu.

Not just simple drone flying show, we are trying to create our own shows based on story related to Suseong-mot added music and plot so could touch people’s mind. Suseong-gu is going to step up to new performance every year to increase new technology and culture.

Plus, Technology about future city is planning to use in various purpose by combining firefighting, police, search as well as culture.
 

On the other hands, in this forum, a publicity clip also released through YouTube live made for announcing the future culture image of Suseong-gu and presentation about the plans of it. This video includes visions of Suseong-gu’s future city based on combination of culture and technology and strategies with 4th industrial revolution era by utilizing UAM and shows our vision and values dynamically.
 

Additionally, there was live cast keynote address and special conversation of famous culture contents related people like Suman Lee, Chef of SM entertainment, Steve Barnet, Chef of CMG group etc. Then there were also celebration message from Super M, performance video, discussion about international culture industry trends among important people from all over the world ,and singer Boa was awarded from the 1st WCIF. All of these was on line webinar.
